Florence and the Hype Latrine

December 5th, 2009

Sometimes I feel like covering other people’s songs.

Sometimes I feel like the hype just isn’t justified.

Sometimes I feel like selling out.

Sometimes I feel like releasing a deluxe four disc edition of my debut album which is entirely unnecessary as it features the same ten songs over and over again.

Sometimes I should just stop.

(Musical parody and rant done with. To continue and resume again shortly.

Plus, have you seen her face? I wish I hadn’t. FACT)

I think “Florence” (and her so-called “machine”, which has yet to make a public appearance) is producing some acceptable chart music just now. It’s satisfactory. It has some credibility and it is infinitely better than Cowell’s X-pop which seems to be taking the world over.

BUT that’s all it is, and poncing about like some tart in a nighty, releasing fifty-disc best-of compilations of her first single and all the rest, is something I refuse to stand for.

That, gentlemen, is why I am sitting down.

    You have good words.

I’m just wondering if Kevin knows who Florence and the Machine are. He probably does as they get a lot of play on Radio 1 and they’ve probably done a great cover for a Live Lounge CD…

    Go away you charlatan.

(Not “The Charlatans”. They were generally very good, and had nothing to do with this so-called Saint King idiot.)

Are you shitting me? You like the Charlatans? Have you ever heard ‘North Country Boy’ or ‘How High’? Fucking awful.

The band are known more for the lead singer’s lips than their back catalogue. They’re like James – the world would be a better place without either.

“The Only One I Know” is a very good song. I don’t know anything else by them. I rest my case.

I have heard of the waiiling bint. But only because she’s covered that infernal Candy Statton song, which ALWAYS on the radio. The most annoying thing is that the original has only just stopped ALWAYS being on radio 1. I hate it and I hate her because of it. Make her stop.

You mean you don’t like Candice Statton ft. The Source version of the song?

Sometimes I feel like you really disappoint me Kevin 😛

Do you sometimes feel like throwing your hands up in the air? Or saying “Lord, I just don’t care”?

If you were typing that on your i-phone that would have come up with something else 😀 wa-hey, heh hey, way blay!

No I don’t actually. I never want to do either of those things. In fact, even when Beck asks me to do it I don’t. It’s just one of those things.
